The birth of the Craters of the
Moon charitable trust was a result of the 1987 Bola Cyclone.
The devastation from that storm provided a literal windfall to the Wairakei
Park area that was to lead to a change to the entrance of the Craters of the
Moon thermal area from off State Highway One.
A formed and sealed access road plus two large sealed car parks and toilets
some two kilometers off the main road were to become the catalyst for an
amazing journey and a series of ongoing “wins” |
