The main building at the Centre
has been constructed in a manner similar to Viking longhouses where pillars
rather than the walls are supporting the roof.
The Viking longhouse here at Jostedalsbreen National Park Centre has about
the size of the biggest longhouse found in Norway.
Arcitect is Stryn Arkitektkontor. As a contrast to the old longhouse is the
Cinema built in modern style, covered by Norwegian polished stone, Larvikitt.
This symbolizes the meeting between the past and the future. Jostedalsbreen
National Parc Centre is based on the pasted to care for the future. |
