Ruggesteinen the Rocking Stone
can be rocked by hand. It is reputed to be the largest rocking stone in the
North of Europe. The 30 cubic metres or so are believed to weigh 70 -80
tons.
In 1923 the stone was protected under the first conservation measure in
Rogaland county. It was simultaneously the first geological feature ever to
make the protected list in Norway. |
