The plants
More than 300 different plants
species are registered in Einarsneset. Many of these are rare. Over 90% of
the population of sea holly is found here on Lista. You will see large areas
of coastal heath land. This old vegetation type has developed through
burning and feeding of livestock since 3000 years. Coastal heath land is a
rare vegetation type throughout Europe. The heath land covered with scotch
broom is the only marquis in Norway. A vegetation type usually found in
southern Europe.
Birdlife
Einarsneset is especially
important as feeding area during migration and wintertime. Common scoter,
velvet scoter, long-tailed duck, great cormorant, common loon are regularly
observed. You can also see rare species like surf scoter, red-necked grebe
and horned grebe. Birds of prey include goshawk, sparrow hawk and peregrine
falcon.
Cultural monuments
You can see several grave-mounds
from the Stone Age. Cotters lived in Einarsneset from the beginning of the
I7th century up until the middle of the 19th century, but had to leave due
to great sandstorms. There are traces from production of clipfish in the
18th century and several German constructions from the Second World War. |
